The Qatar-based Al-fardan Group is a multi-line conglomerate with activities in the jewelry, real estate, automobile, Hospitality, marine, currency exchange and trading sectors, as of 2008.
The family owned Al-fardan Group began in the late 19th century by a pearl trader, who eventually transformed his trade into a jewelry shop and currency exchange. The shop became the foundation of the Al-fardan business empire, which operates several subsidiaries with a brand portfolio that includes Maserati, Gucci, Harry Winston and more.
Al-Fardan Hospitality develops all high-end projects, i.e. Serviced Apartments, Hotels, Resorts and Restaurants. Al-Fardan Hospitality co-joins with top operators that will provide a luxury service within the properties naming Starwood hotels operating the St. Regis Doha, and Gordon Ramsay to operate the Maze Restaurant at the pearl. It is the company vision to Set up unique hospitality standards in Qatar and if not the entire region.
The group’s automobile business is represented by its flagship subsidiary, Al Fardan Automotive Group. The group established Al-fardan Premier Motors in January 2007, which became the exclusive importer of Land Rovers in Qatar. In November 2007, APM reported a 10% growth in Land Rover sales over the previous year.
Al-fardan Group manufactures and trades in jewelry in Qatar and Saudi Arabia through its subsidiary, Al Fardan Jewellry, which represents international brands such as Piaget, Corum, Chopard and Harry Winston.
Al-Fardan Real Estate owns and manages properties in Qatar; its core business is villa, condominium and office construction. Some of its projects include Al-fardan Centre, Al-fardan Gardens, Laguna Beach and Al-fardan Plaza.
The Al-fardan Exchange and Finance Company exchanges all major foreign currencies, issues drafts with corresponding banks and deals in precious metals and gold trading. The subsidiary also manages Al-fardan Group s portfolio of local shares and offers stock brokerage and market research services.
