Academic Teacher of University Foundation Studies in China
 

OVERVIEW

Thank you for your interest in a teaching post at the University Foundation Studies Program in China, which is developed by Jiangsu Ahead Education.
One of our prestigious programs is UFS (UNSW Foundation Studies) program, which was established in Nanjing (the capital of Jiangsu Province) in September 2007. In September 2008, we developed this program in the top schools in the cities of Suzhou and Wuxi. (The program was ranked 1st in 2008 of all Australian offshore programs with 93% graduates directly entered into undergraduate courses of top 50 Universities of the world. And in 2009, The program was again ranked 1st of all Australian offshore programs with 90% graduates directly entered into undergraduate courses of top 50 Universities of the world.) In 2010, we have upgraded it into University Foundation program, which is and have further developed it in another two new schools in Xi’an in Sha’anxi Province and in Zhengzhou in Henan Province. The school accommodating this program in Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Xi’an and Zhengzhou are top schools in China. We plan to further develop the program in other cities in 2011. The curricula and assessment procedures of the program are all supervised by our Department of Course Design and Quality Assurance.
In essence, our programs will provide an opportunity for the most academically competent students to upgrade to undergraduate studies in top universities in Australia, UK, USA, etc.. The entrance standards for students and the conditions to be satisfied for admission to the program are very strict. Therefore, if your application is successful, you will enjoy the interaction with all excellent students.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The successful applicants will have, at least,
1. Related degree from an English speaking country; Bachelor degree at least.
2. 2-year teaching experience;
3. Good health conditions;

Position 1: Mathematics /IT
Position 2: Academic English /Australian Legal Studies
Position 3: Physics/ Chemistry
Position 4: Economics / Accounting / Legal Studies

SALARY GRADE: State Salary Schedule plus local supplement
Salary ranges from RMB 11,000 to RMB 17,000 yuan for teaching Foundation subjects. Besides, a competitive remuneration package (including air ticket allowance, telephone & transportation allowance, in-site accommodation, free lunches and insurance) is offered.

Salaries are paid monthly in RMB (Chinese currency; also know as CNY). Your salary will depend upon the match between your experience and the needs of the school. A detailed salary offer will be discussed at interview and will be confirmed with a formal offer of contract.

OTHER INFORMATION

Jiangsu Ahead Education has a business and administrative section staffed mostly by Chinese nationals. This section provides an invaluable service, having regular contact with the Chinese government and local authorities to ensure that we can operate effectively. The administration staff will also deal with work permits, visas, purchasing.

Living in China is both an exhilarating and frustrating experience. It is a wonderful country with plenty of opportunities for travel and the people are friendly. We need to remember that we are guests in the country and are expected to observe certain cultural sensitivities. Things tend to happen much more slowly than many of us would like, so if you get irritated when things do not immediately go to plan, consider very carefully before making your application. Most staff lives near the school (in fact within a 5 minute drive - depending on the traffic!).

All teachers on expatriate contracts are provided with in-site accommodation which is a good quality, furnished and air-conditioned apartment. Cars are becoming an affordable commodity but most of us use taxis that are plentiful and very, very cheap, or bikes.

Although not essential, it is advisable to learn a little of the Chinese language or at least invest in a Mandarin phrase book! One beauty of living in China is the low cost of living. Your money goes a long, long way. A typical meal in a relatively up market restaurant will
